City of Freeport — Mayor & Council
Freeport is led by a Mayor and four City Council Members, elected by neighborhoods (wards).
Mayor Jerry Cain is the elected Mayor of the City of Freeport, Texas. He is committed to serving the community by supporting local growth, ensuring responsive city government, and working with residents, businesses, and regional partners to keep Freeport moving forward.
The City Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Police Department. These meetings are open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
The Council hires a City Manager to oversee daily operations and also appoints the City Attorney, Police Chief, Municipal Judges, and volunteers who serve on boards and commissions.
